WATER ACTIVITIES & DIVING
Water Temperatures
Average sea water temperature ranges from 23 C in the winter months to 27C in the summer months. Short wet suits are useful for extended snorkeling or scuba diving in the winter. Lycra/stinger suites are recommended for the summer months for sunburn, coral scratches and jelly fish protection.
Snorkeling
The Whitsunday's offers excellent snorkeling. All Whitsunday Escape vessels include snorkeling gear. You may wish to bring your favorite fitting mask and snorkel if you have room in your luggage. Good snorkeling sites are scattered throughout north and eastern anchorages as the visibility is normally better in these areas. The on board copy of the cruising guide the "100 magic miles" lists dive sites.
Jet-ski and Waterskiing
Jet skis are not practical to store on deck or tow behind our charter vessels. The marine park settings only permit waterskiing or the use of jet-skis within small areas in the vicinity of Island resorts. If you wish to jet-ski or water ski, it is best to do so when you visit the resorts.
Paddleboards
Paddleboards are available for hire. They will be delivered and secured to your vessel prior to your arrival, but they must be ordered in advance to ensure availability. Contact Whitsunday Escape to order.

Scuba Diving
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park has a reputation for some of the best diving anywhere. Snorkeling gear is provided. Scuba gear can be rented and/or a dive vessel can rendezvous with you at the anchorage of your choice. The best visibility and dive sites are within the vicinity of the northern and eastern anchorages on Hook Island, Hayman Island, Langford Island and Boarder Island. The onboard copy of the cruising guide the “100 magic miles” lists recommended dive sites.
