Bona Bay, Gloucester Island

Bona Bay is on Gloucester Island, adjacent to Montes Beach Resort in the northern Whitsundays. A favourite for:

  • fishing
  • great sandy beaches
  • picturesque sunsets
  • privacy and seclusion

A perfect spot to unwind, have an afternoon swim off your boat or a sunset picnic on the beach. Seldom visited except for a few locals, you may just find you have this peaceful bay all to yourself!

It’s west-facing aspect makes it ideal for an afternoon swim or some sun baking, and for capturing sunsets over the ocean. You might even spot the lights of Bowen on the horizon at night.

Nautical Information

Wind protection from:

  • South East
  • South
  • South West

Be careful when navigating through Gloucester Passage, as there is a submerged outcrop that extends out from the island at low tide.

Hot Tip

No luck fishing?  Pop over to Montes or Cape Gloucester Eco Resort for a meal (and maybe a cocktail or two).
