It is one of the most famous beaches in the world and is constantly ranked as one of the best beaches by numerous sources, year after year.

The beach stretches over 7km along Whitsunday Island and offers two bushwalks with fantastic views – Hill Inlet bushwalk (1.3km return) and Whitehaven to Chance Bay bushwalk (7.2km return).

Nautical Information

  • Small reef off the south end of the beach use caution.
  • Beach accessible at any tide.

At the northern end of Whitehaven Beach is Hill Inlet where there is a short bush walk from Tongue Bay up to the Hill Inlet Lookout which affords stunning views along the length of the inlet and Whitehaven Beach.

Walkers can try the 7.2km round trip walking track from the southern end of Whitehaven Beach to Chance Bay for spectacular views of the surrounding islands and two beautiful beaches. Part of the ‘Ngaro Sea Trail’.
