What to Bring - Whitsunday Escape
Skipper yourself bareboat charter company

Most of your time in the Whitsundays will probably be spent in a swimsuit so very light packing will be required.

Essentials

  • Beach towels for the saltwater (we supply your bath towels)
  • Swimmers
  • Sunscreen
  • A good hat or two
  • Soft luggage for easy stowing
  • Camera
  • A sense of adventure

Footwear

Footwear should include flip flops or sandshoes for beaching the dinghy and comfortable shoes for exploring the many walking tracks. You will spend most of your time on board the boat barefoot. Thongs or flip flops will generally suffice for a visit into Airlie Beach, unless you wish to hit the town and visit nightclubs, in which case enclosed shoes may be required.

Clothing

Sunsafe and lightweight clothing is best and suitable year round. For the cooler months (July/August), a jacket or sweater can be handy for the evenings. For a night at an island resort, smart casual is all that is required.

Sunglasses

When entering anchorages, it is important that you proceed slowly with a forward look-out. Polarised sunglasses assist in reducing reflection and improve visibility of the reef. It is possible to get very cheap polarised sunglasses at local chemists and other stores in Airlie Beach.

What NOT to bring

  • Hard suitcases and luggage
  • Mutinous crew!
