What is bareboating?

Bareboating is when you hire a boat and take it cruising yourself, sometimes referred to as a ‘skipper yourself’ charter. It is called ‘bare’ because it doesn’t come with a skipper or crew as you get to do this yourself, and you drive the boat yourselves, wherever you want to go!

You get the freedom to cruise the Whitsunday Islands at your own pace and choose your own adventure each day!

Before you leave you will go through a comprehensive briefing including:

  • The cruising area around the Whitsunday Islands,
  • The operating and safety features of the boat you have hired.

No formal boating qualifications or licences are required to charter with Whitsunday Escape. Some boating knowledge and experience is all it takes!

  2. We know it can be difficult organising dates off with work or school commitments. Enquire early to have the best options available!
