Our Community

Whitsunday Escape is committed to the local community by supporting worthy causes, campaigns and charities.

Our ongoing commitment to the community is demonstrated by the following activities:

Eco Barge Clean Up

Whitsunday Escape supports local environmental group Eco Barge Clean Seas Whitsundays.

We participate in regular local clean up days in our area, as well as the annual Clean Up Australia Day event in March.

We also provide clean up bags to our guests if they wish to assist whilst on charter.

It is very important to Whitsunday Escape that our local environment is looked after and kept clean, to ensure it’s health and survival long into the future.

We are proud to support our local community, so in 2022, when a development Touch Football team needed new team shirts, we were happy to help out.

Gazebos for Cannonvale State School

In 2021, we donated 4 new gazebos to the kids at Cannonvale State School.

These gazebos are used for the school’s sports carnivals along with other outdoor activities. They are coloured and branded to correspond with the schools 4 Sports Houses.

The P&C President said “On behalf of the P&C and our amazing kids we would like to say THANK YOU to you and your company for your generous donation of our 4 sports marquees. Oh my gosh they look amazing and have been used so much already. I have had amazing feedback from our community out how cool they look. Thank you thank you thank you!”

Hands Group - Hands Across the Water

Whitsunday Escape, in conjunction with individual boat owners, supports various charities with prizes and other fundraising efforts.

Since 2018, Whitsunday Escape and the owners of the Nautitech Open 40 sailing catamaran have raised over $30 000 for the Hands Across the Water Charity.

These funds are used for disadvantaged children and communities in Thailand to assist with housing, food, schooling, etc.

CQ Rescue Helicopter

Whitsunday Escape recognises the importance of CQ Rescue and their missions and supports the organisation with a financial donation every year.

CQ Rescue helicopters are based in Mackay and provide vital life-saving transport, as well as search and rescue missions, for both residents and visitors in the Whitsunday area.

Did you know, the area that CQ Rescue covers is larger than 4 times the size of Tasmania!

The Last Straw Whitsundays

In 2018, prior to the Government plastic straw ban, Whitsunday Escape was the driving force behind The Last Straw campaign for the Whitsundays as we are passionate about reducing the waste that ends up in our oceans causing untold damage to our marine life.

All local businesses were encouraged to sign up and join the movement and many implemented paper straws long before the government ban was in place.

University of Queensland Sailing Club

Whitsunday Escape proudly sponsored the University of Queensland Sailing Club for a number of years.

This sponsorship entailed facilitating the annual Whitsunday Sailing Week along with sailing equipment when required – in 2018 this sponsorship saw new sails for some of their boats.

We also helped the 2016 UQSail team get to the Uni Games held in Perth where they took the gold!

Cannonvale Cannons

Whitsunday Escape sponsored the local swim team, the Cannonvale Cannons from 2017 – 2020.

We are proud to support the local kids, coaches and volunteers who are apart of this great team!

Fridges for Cannonvale State School

In 2017, we donated 3 fridges to the classrooms at Cannonvale State School. Living in the tropics, we know how hot it is most of the year, and it’s important that our kids can have fresh food for lunch to keep them healthy and fit.

We liaised with our local Cannonvale State School and donated 3 brand new classroom fridges for the primary school students.
